In a significant move towards improving access to digital resources for individuals with disabilities, Norway has reaffirmed its commitment to digital inclusion in Vietnam. The announcement came during a technical meeting held on April 9, 2025, which focused on enhancing accessibility to government e-portals.
The meeting was hosted by UNDP Vietnam and featured opening remarks from Ms. Mette Møglestue, Deputy Head of Mission at the Norwegian Embassy in Hanoi. Ms. Møglestue emphasized Norway’s dedication to promoting inclusive digital accessibility. “Norway is proud to support this initiative and of our partnership with UNDP in implementing Norway’s commitment to promoting inclusion and equal access to public services for all,” she stated.
The importance of including people with disabilities in all aspects of society is a priority for Norway. Ms. Møglestue highlighted that Norway aims to respect the dignity and human rights of individuals with disabilities, asserting this as a core value both domestically and internationally. “In a time where values and rights are challenged, Norway wishes to be a strong advocate and defender of human rights for people with disabilities,” she added.
During the technical meeting, key findings were presented from a report titled “Assessing the Digital Accessibility of 20 Information Websites of the Ministries and the National Assembly.” This report served as a foundation for discussions aimed at refining its recommendations and identifying further steps to improve digital accessibility.
Norway's commitment to the rights of people with disabilities is longstanding, with efforts evident in its national policies and international partnerships. The collaboration with UNDP in Vietnam highlights Norway’s ongoing support in the area of disability rights and digital inclusion.
As Vietnam continues to advance its digital landscape, initiatives such as this are crucial in ensuring that everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, has the opportunity to participate fully in society.
This partnership is a positive development in promoting equality in access to information and services, aligning with global efforts to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities.
