His remarks came during a joint press briefing with Latvia's parliamentary leader, Dace Melbarde.

Grosu highlighted that Latvia stands out as one of Moldova's strongest advocates on its journey towards EU membership. "Latvia is not only an ally but also an example for us," he stated, as the two nations reaffirm their commitment to strengthen bilateral relations.

Call for Investment Opportunities in Moldova

During the conference, Grosu extended an invitation to Latvian investors to explore business opportunities in Moldova. "We believe that Latvian businesses will find competitive advantages here," he added, noting the various infrastructure projects that are also in motion.

Moreover, Grosu mentioned ongoing discussions regarding the recognition of Moldovan driver's licenses in Latvia, aiming to ease travel and administrative processes for citizens of both countries.

Latvia's EU Membership Experience

Dace Melbarde, the Latvian Parliament Speaker, shared her insights on her country’s journey toward European Union membership, which took six years of negotiations. She expressed optimism that Moldova could achieve EU accession more swiftly. "It is a great honor to visit Moldova, a close ally and good friend. I have closely followed your progress in European integration; much has been accomplished, but there is still work to be done," she remarked.

Melbarde underscored the importance of continuous support for democracy, asserting that it is vital to communicate the benefits of European integration to societies.

Official Visit Agenda

As part of her official visit, Melbarde is scheduled to meet with various Moldovan leaders, including Vice Speaker Doina German and Deputy Alina Dandara, who chairs the parliamentary friendship group with Latvia. Additionally, discussions are planned with President Maia Sandu, as well as with Vice Prime Ministers Christina Gerasimov and Oleg Serebrian, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi.

Both leaders concluded the conference with a commitment to continue fostering the strong ties between Moldova and Latvia while promoting shared goals on the path to European integration.
