Neeses Man Charged in Norway Shooting Death
Neeses, SC – A 25-year-old man from Neeses has been charged with murder following an incident last year in Norway, South Carolina, where another man was killed. The suspect, identified as Jahlil Adam Wolley, faces accusations of fatally shooting Semion Sadarian Lamar, a 21-year-old resident of Allendale, on March 12, 2024. #### Arrest and Charges
Wolley was arrested on Thursday, and authorities have charged him with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The charges stem from investigative findings that included video footage and cellphone GPS data, which helped law enforcement identify him as the suspect.
According to warrants issued by the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), Lamar’s cellphone GPS placed him at Wolley’s residence shortly before the shooting occurred. This evidence suggests a direct connection between the two men prior to the incident. The warrants indicate that the shooting was captured on surveillance cameras, providing further confirmation of Wolley’s involvement.
Discovery of the Victim
The tragic events unfolded late at night on March 12. After the shooting, Lamar’s body was discovered by a passerby who noticed a 2014 blue Dodge Charger parked in front of the Norway Police Department on U.S. Highway 321. The concerned individual observed bullet holes in the vehicle and an unresponsive man in the driver's seat, prompting him to contact authorities.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they attempted to access the vehicle to assist the occupant but found the doors locked. They used a tool on the passenger window to unlock the Charger. Medical personnel determined that Lamar was deceased upon their arrival.
Ongoing Investigation
Sheriff's deputies recovered shell casings from the intersection of U.S. Highway 321 and S.C. Highway 400, helping to corroborate the circumstances surrounding Lamar’s death. Wolley is currently being held at the Orangeburg County Detention Center, where a circuit judge may review his bond status in the upcoming days.
If Wolley is convicted of murder, he could face a life sentence in prison. In South Carolina, such sentences do not allow for the possibility of parole or probation.
Community Impact
This incident has raised concerns within the local community about violence and public safety. The tragic nature of this shooting has prompted discussions on the need for increased awareness and strategies to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
This story is still developing, and more information will be released as the investigation progresses. Anyone with further information about the case is encouraged to contact the local authorities.
