Estonian rapper Säm unveiled his sophomore album, Südamelt ära (Off My Chest), on Friday, delivering what he calls his most personal and transparent work to date. Produced primarily by Karl Killing, the album represents a significant milestone in the artist's journey of self-expression.
In describing the album, Säm shared that this project holds deep personal meaning. “This time, I didn’t want to hide between the lines,” he explained. “I’m speaking directly about everything that matters to me—my family, my friends, and especially my partner, to whom this album is largely dedicated. While some artists might stay on the surface with their lyrics, music is my therapy. It’s my way to get things off my chest and truly be myself.”
The album’s production features contributions from a talented team, including Steven Ilves, Tops, and, of course, Karl Killing. Guest appearances by notable artists like Reket and Kewin add dynamic layers to the 15-track collection, which was created over the span of two years.
Säm believes that Südamelt ära reflects his growth both as a person and an artist. “This is my best work yet—more mature, thoughtful, and emotionally resonant. Every song draws from my own life and experiences; it’s honest and authentic. The first half of the album feels like the conclusion of my debut, wrapping up the previous chapter of my life. The second half is where the light begins to shine through, bringing more hope and positivity.”
Known for his thoughtful lyricism, Säm places immense value on his words and hopes listeners will take the time to engage deeply with his stories. “Life moves so quickly these days, but I’d truly appreciate it if people could pause and let these songs touch them. They mean a lot to me, and I hope they’ll mean something to others too.”
With Südamelt ära, Säm cements his place as a leading voice in Estonian rap, offering a heartfelt and mature exploration of life, love, and personal growth.
