Saab Secures Order for RBS 70 NG Air Defence System from Latvia

Linköping, Sweden – March 31, 2025 – Saab has announced that it has entered into a framework agreement with the Latvian Ministry of Defence for the RBS 70 NG, a short-range ground-based air defence system. The agreement includes an order valued at approximately SEK 2.1 billion. Deliveries of the system are scheduled to occur between 2026 and 2030. The contract encompasses the provision of RBS 70 NG firing units, missiles, and associated training units, bolstering Latvia's air defence capabilities. Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business area Dynamics, stated, “Saab continues to support the Latvian National Armed Forces with a strong ground-based air defence capability which will significantly enhance its crucial ability to detect and engage aerial threats.”

The RBS 70 NG system is equipped with an automatic target tracker and a built-in night sight, enabling it to engage a variety of threats, including aircraft, drones, and missiles, from distances of up to nine kilometres. This advanced feature set is designed to provide enhanced situational awareness and operational effectiveness for Latvia's military.
