New Office Managers Appointed for Nordic Council of Ministers in Latvia and Lithuania
Copenhagen, Denmark – The Nordic Council of Ministers announced the appointment of Nina Hvid Enevoldsen and Ole Andreas Lindeman as the new office managers for its offices in Latvia and Lithuania, respectively. Their appointments signify a continuation of the strong partnership between the Nordic countries and the Baltic states.
Strengthening Baltic Relations
The Nordic Council of Ministers has maintained close ties with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania since the 1990s. With offices established in all three nations, the Council emphasizes the importance of collaboration in addressing regional challenges and enhancing co-operative initiatives. Enevoldsen and Lindeman will lead various existing and new projects aimed at fostering a more democratic and resilient Baltic Sea region.
Nina Hvid Enevoldsen brings a wealth of experience from the Danish Foreign Service. Currently, she is responsible for economic and trade policy at the Danish embassy in Poland. Enevoldsen has also worked in various roles within the business sector, other ministries, and the EU Commission. In her new position, she aims to enhance cooperation not only within the Baltic Sea region but also with other European nations.
“My goal is to partner closely with our Baltic colleagues and leverage our Nordic solidarity to build a stronger European democracy founded on Nordic values,” Enevoldsen stated. “This will include expanding our collaboration with other European countries.”
Experience in International Relations
Ole Andreas Lindeman, appointed to lead the office in Lithuania, brings significant expertise from the Norwegian Foreign Service. His extensive diplomatic career includes serving as an ambassador and managing missions across multiple continents, including regions to the east of the Nordic countries. Lindeman's focus will be on using his experience to address challenges in the region.
“Building trust, promoting integration, and advancing social sustainability are crucial in my work as we approach 2030,” Lindeman emphasized. “These elements will help us maintain our core values during these uncertain times."
Supporting Regional Initiatives
The Nordic Council of Ministers’ offices in the Baltic region handle programs and projects that reflect ongoing challenges and opportunities. As Secretary General Karen Ellemann remarked, “I am delighted that Nina Hvid Enevoldsen and Ole Andreas Lindeman will be taking over as our office managers in Latvia and Lithuania. They possess extensive experience in international cooperation and an understanding of the Baltic region's dynamics."
Ellemann also expressed gratitude towards the outgoing office managers, Helén Nilsson in Lithuania and Stefan Eriksson in Latvia, for their dedicated service over the past eight years.
Transition Details
Enevoldsen and Lindeman are set to officially begin their roles in August, succeeding Nilsson and Eriksson. Their leadership is expected to enhance Nordic-Baltic relations and contribute to future initiatives aimed at addressing both local and broader European issues.
As the Nordic Council of Ministers continues to play a pivotal role in regional diplomacy, these appointments represent a strategic move towards fostering strong cooperative ties among neighboring states.
