Denmark to Deploy Troops for Training in Ukraine as Russia Issues Warnings

Denmark has announced plans to deploy unarmed troops to Ukraine for training purposes, focusing on learning tactics related to drone warfare. This development comes as Ukraine continues to adapt and innovate in its ongoing conflict with Russia.

Danish Troops to Learn Drone Warfare

Denmark's Commander-in-Chief, Major General Peter Boysen, confirmed the nation's intent to send soldiers to Western Ukraine. "We’re sending some teams down to see what experiences the Ukrainians have had — first-hand," Boysen stated in remarks to the Danish state broadcaster TV 2. He emphasized that these troops would not be involved in active combat but would participate in training sessions aimed at understanding and utilizing drone technology effectively.

The training sessions are scheduled to last between one and two weeks and are expected to start as soon as this summer. Although the exact number of troops to be sent has yet to be determined, the decision indicates Denmark's commitment to learning from Ukraine's intensive combat experience against Russian forces.

Russian Response: Training Sites as Targets

In response to Denmark's announcement, Russia's ambassador to Denmark, Vladimir Barbin, criticized the move as a provocation, asserting it would escalate Denmark's involvement in the Ukraine conflict. Barbin warned that Danish personnel and facilities involved in training would be considered “legitimate targets,” signaling a potential increase in hostilities directed at foreign military engagements in Ukraine.

This warning follows a pattern of Russian statements regarding other Western military assets and infrastructure in Ukraine, which Russia has previously labeled as legitimate military objectives. Despite these threats, there have been no confirmed strikes on similar targets.
