CESKE BUDEJOVICE, Czech Republic - In a commanding performance, the United States women’s hockey team defeated Finland 7-1 in their opening match of the Women’s World Championship on Wednesday. This thrilling game showcased the U.S. team’s skill and teamwork, setting a strong tone for the tournament.

Hayley Scamurra and Kelly Pannek each tallied two goals, leading the charge for the American squad. Team captain Hilary Knight, in her 15th world championship appearance, contributed significantly with a goal and an assist, while Taylor Heise matched her efforts with a goal and an assist as well.
